2. Data we collect
Information you give us: your name, organisation, role, email, telephone, the markets and matters you describe in a brief, Ask WLA questions, product orders and account details.
Information about partner firms and professionals: names, titles, photographs, practice areas, jurisdictions, contact details and designation status, supplied by the firm for publication.
Information collected automatically: device and browser data, IP address, pages viewed and similar usage data, described in the Cookie Policy.
3. How we use it
To respond to briefs and enquiries, map cross-border decisions, identify suitable WLA partner firms and introduce them to you.
To provide WLA products such as the Cross-Border Legal Map™, Regulatory Radar™ and Global Legal Bench™, including verification of legal propositions by WLA lawyers in the relevant jurisdiction.
To operate accounts, process payments for WLA products and designations, send service messages, maintain security and improve our services.
To send the WLA Intelligence Briefing and event information where you have asked for it. You can unsubscribe at any time.
4. Ask WLA and AI processing
Ask WLA uses automated processing, including AI models, to organise your question against reviewed WLA records. Outputs are orientation, not legal advice.
Questions and outputs may be stored in WLA's separate AI intelligence store to improve accuracy and quality, and to let you return to saved results. Do not include confidential client information or special category data in a question unless asked to through a secure channel.
No decision with legal or similarly significant effect on you is made solely by automated means.
5. Legal bases
Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (accounts, products, designations); legitimate interests (responding to enquiries, operating and securing WLA, publishing partner profiles); consent (marketing emails, non-essential cookies); and legal obligations.
Where India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 applies, we process personal data for the purposes stated in this notice, on the basis of your consent or a legitimate use permitted by the Act.
6. Sharing
With WLA partner firms, when you ask to be introduced or brief WLA on a matter. Each firm is an independent controller of the data it receives.
With service providers who host, secure, analyse or support WLA (including AI model providers, cloud hosting, email and payment providers) under contract.
Within the UNBOUNDED™ ecosystem only where you ask for a related service, for example an event registration.
Where the law requires, or to protect rights, safety and security. We do not sell personal data.
7. International transfers
WLA works across 90+ jurisdictions, so personal data may be transferred outside your country. Where required we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, and comply with transfer rules under applicable law.
8. Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above: account data for the life of the account plus [n] years; briefs and orders for [n] years; Ask WLA records for [n] months unless saved to your account; marketing data until you unsubscribe.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you are, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent and to nominate a person to exercise rights on your behalf. We use technical and organisational measures including encryption in transit, access controls, role-based permissions and audit logs. AI provider keys and credentials are held server-side only.

WLA services are for professionals and businesses and are not directed at children.
