AI & Data Launch Passport™

Here is what our AI system does. Here are the countries. See where the rules diverge before it goes live.

A written report for companies about to launch an AI product or feature in more than one country. You describe what the system does, what data it uses and who it affects. WLA shows how the rules differ country by country, and what you must have in place in each, before you launch.

In plain words

What this is, and whether you need it.

What it is

A report, not software. When an AI product is used in several countries, each one may have its own rules on AI, privacy, moving data across borders, automated decisions and contracts. This report sets out, for your product and your countries, where those rules differ and what each country expects you to have in place.

When to use it

Before you launch an AI product or feature in a new country, or when you are deciding which countries to launch in. Also when you are an AI business and customers or investors are asking how your product meets the rules abroad.

How to use it

Tell us in your own words what the system does, what data it uses, who it affects and where it will be used. We confirm what is included and a fixed fee in writing. You then receive the report in your WLA account.

What you gain

You see the differences between countries before you commit to a launch plan. You know what documents and safeguards each market expects, you avoid expensive redesign after launch, and you can brief your lawyers precisely.

A simple example

THE SITUATION

A UK company has built a tool that ranks job applicants. It wants to sell it to employers in Germany, India and Brazil.

WITHOUT THE REPORT

The company launches with one global set-up. Later it learns that one country restricts moving applicants' data abroad, another treats decisions about job applicants differently, and each wants different paperwork. The product has to be redesigned after launch.

WITH THE REPORT

One document sets out, for each country, the rules that touch this use, the data and decision points that matter, and the documents each market expects. It shows where the countries diverge, so the company can design once, correctly.

Words used on this page

AI system

Software that produces outputs such as scores, predictions, recommendations, content or decisions, using techniques that learn from data.

Personal data

Information about an identifiable person, such as a name, an email address, a CV or a recording of a voice.

Cross-border data transfer

Sending or giving access to personal data in another country. Many countries set conditions for this.

Automated decision

A decision about a person made, or heavily shaped, by software. Some countries give people rights in relation to these.

Use case

What the system is used for, by whom and about whom. The same software can face different rules for different uses.

Local counsel

A lawyer qualified in that country. Only they can confirm what the country's law requires for you.

Is it right for you?

Use it when an AI or data-driven product is about to cross a border.

Launch an AI product

You are about to put an AI product or feature on the market in one or more new countries.

Choose where to launch

You are comparing countries and want to see which ones will be easy and which will need more work.

Sell AI to businesses abroad

Your customers operate in several countries and ask how your product meets each country's rules.

Use AI on staff or applicants

You will use AI to support hiring, evaluation or management of people in other countries.

Move data between countries

Your product needs personal data to flow across borders, for example to train or run the system.

Prepare for investors and customers

Due diligence questions on AI and data are coming and you want a clear, verified answer.

NOT THE RIGHT PRODUCT IF

You want to track changes in the law over time, use Regulatory Radar™. You are entering a market with a business that is not mainly about AI, use Market Entry Legal Readiness™. You already know what you need and want a lawyer to act, use People & Firms.

NOT SURE?

Send a short note through Brief WLA, or start from Ask WLA, and we will point you to the right product. WLA itself does not give legal advice; it introduces the right firm.

What you receive

Seven parts, from what your system does to who has checked it.

Your report has seven parts, always in this order. Each one is explained below in plain words.

  1. 01

Use-case profile: data involved, AI role, people affected

A short, precise description of your system: what data it uses, what the AI does, and who is affected by it. Every later part is built on this, because rules depend on the use.

  2. 02

    AI-specific rules country by country

For each country, the rules that apply specifically to AI systems of your kind, and where countries differ from each other.

  3. 03

    Privacy and cross-border data transfer

How each country treats the personal data your system uses, and the conditions for moving that data across borders.

  4. 04

Automated decisions, consumer and employment use

The rules that apply when the system makes or shapes decisions about people, or is used with consumers or in the workplace.

  5. 05

    IP and contractual allocation

Who owns what, and who carries which risk, between you, your customers and your suppliers. The contract points to settle for each country.

  6. 06

    Documentation each market requires

The notices, records, assessments or filings each country expects you to prepare or hold before and after launch.

  7. 07

Propositions verified by WLA lawyers in each market

The legal statements in the report, each checked by a WLA lawyer qualified in that country before you receive it.

What it looks like

An invented example, to show the shape of the report. A real report is built on your facts and verified by lawyers in each country.

How it works

Four steps. Nothing starts until you agree in writing.

01 · BRIEF

Tell us about the system

Answer the short questions below, or start from Ask WLA. Describe what it does, not how it is built.

02 · SCOPE AND QUOTE

Agree scope and fee

WLA confirms the scope and a fixed fee in writing. There is no obligation until you agree.

03 · DRAFT AND VERIFY

Built and checked

The engine drafts from WLA records. A WLA lawyer in each country verifies every legal statement.

04 · DELIVER

A decision-ready report

You receive a document you can act on, in your WLA account. Counsel is introduced on request.

Your account

Follow your request in My WLA.

1 · Sign in with a code

Use the work email you gave us. We send a six-digit code. There is no password to remember.

2 · See where it stands

Each request has a reference number and a stage: received, scoping, scope confirmed, in production, lawyer review, delivered.

3 · Write to us, open your report

Add information or ask a question on any request. When your report is ready, you open it from the same page.

Brief WLA

Describe what it does and for whom. Please do not include source code, trade secrets or personal data about real people.

Questions

Before you ask.

Is this a document or software?

A document. It is a written report, delivered to your WLA account, that you can read, share with your board and use to brief your lawyers. It is not an app you operate.

Is this legal advice?

No. World Law Alliance does not provide legal services and is not a law firm. The report organises the legal questions and shows where advice is needed. Where it is, WLA introduces the designated partner firm in that country, which is solely responsible for the advice it gives.

What does "verified by lawyers" mean?

The engine drafts from WLA records. It does not establish what the law currently is. A WLA lawyer in each country verifies every legal statement before the report is delivered.

Does the report say my AI system is compliant?

No. It shows which rules apply to your use in each country, where the countries differ, and what each expects you to have in place. It is not a certificate of compliance.

Do I need to share my code or model?

No. Describe what the system does, the kind of data it uses and who it affects. Please do not send source code, trade secrets, or personal data about real people through the form.

Is this only for generative AI?

No. It covers any system that uses AI to produce scores, recommendations, content or decisions. Describe yours and we will confirm the scope in writing.

What if the rules change after I receive the report?

Rules in this area change often. Regulatory Radar™ tells you about changes that touch your countries and operations. See the India DPDP Rules signal for an example of how a change is reported.

What do I do with the report?

Use it to decide where and how to launch, to design the product and its documents once, to answer customers and investors, and to instruct local lawyers only where the report says you need them. WLA can introduce those lawyers.

How much does it cost, and how long does it take?

WLA confirms a fixed fee and the delivery date in writing once scope is agreed. Sending a request carries no obligation.

How is my information handled?

It is treated as confidential and used to respond to your request. See the privacy policy for details.

Do I need an account?

We set one up for you from your work email so you can follow the request. You sign in with a one-time code sent to that email.

What if my country is not in the suggestions?

Enter it anyway. The suggestions list countries where WLA has approved professionals, but you can name any market and we will tell you how it will be covered.
