About
Hans Klaver
Mediation at Penrose Law

Hans Klaver is a partner at Penrose in Amsterdam, where he specialises in corporate and finance law. Known for his pragmatic and stoic approach, Hans advises entrepreneurs, investors, and corporations on complex corporate structures, finance transactions, and disputes.

Hans earned degrees in both business law and tax law from Leiden University, the Netherlands. He began his career at Allen & Overy, gaining a solid foundation in corporate and commercial law before moving to the boutique firm Spigthoff, where he honed his expertise in high-value corporate transactions.

In 2004 and 2005, Hans broadened his international perspective in Chicago, serving as an advisor on Dutch corporate governance matters at Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS), Inc. Upon returning to the Netherlands, he became a partner and Head of Legal Affairs at a corporate finance firm, focusing on Dutch corporate and financial regulation.

Since joining Penrose in October 2012 as a corporate law partner, Hans has led the firm’s finance transactions and finance litigation team. His dual experience as a lawyer and finance advisor allows him to bridge the gap between legal complexity and commercial practicality, enabling him to communicate seamlessly with both entrepreneurs and investors.

Hans’s work is characterised by strategic insight, analytical precision, and a results-oriented mindset — qualities that make him a trusted advisor to both Dutch and international clients navigating sophisticated financial and corporate matters.
