Abdiwahid Biriq is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, admitted to the bar in 2007. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B., Hons) from Birkbeck College, University of London, completed in 2003, and Legal Practice Course (LPC) from BPP Law School in London in 2006. Abdiwahid finalised his Diploma in Law at the Kenya School of Law, rounding out a legal education spanning both the United Kingdom and Kenya.

Abdiwahid is an accomplished corporate, commercial, banking and finance lawyer with extensive experience advising local and international clients on high-value and complex transactions. Over the years, he has successfully led multi-billion-shilling projects involving land acquisitions, large-scale construction developments, project financing, and asset disposals across diverse sectors.
His practice focuses on structuring and negotiating sophisticated commercial transactions, including sale and purchase agreements, leases, joint venture arrangements, project finance documentation, infrastructure development projects, securitizations, and conventional and Islamic banking transactions. Abdiwahid has advised clients on cross-border corporate and commercial matters involving multiple jurisdictions, with an international client base spanning Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Middle East.
Abdiwahid possess extensive expertise in corporate and commercial law, competition law, financial regulation, tax law, intellectual property, aviation law, investment law, and capital markets. His experience includes advising on acquisition finance, loan financing, securitizations, joint ventures, stamp duty matters, and regulatory compliance. I am also skilled in developing and implementing both standardized and bespoke compliance policies and procedures, including anti-money laundering (AML) frameworks aligned with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
Abdiwahid has significant experience in drafting and negotiating Shariah-compliant financing structures, including security agreements and related security documentation, and advising financial institutions on both conventional and Islamic finance transactions.
Additionally, Abdiwahid has successfully led and argued matters before the Superior Courts of Kenya involving land, physical planning, environmental and related property disputes, aviation, corporate restructuring, providing strategic legal representation in complex and high-value litigation.
