George Matthew T. Habacon is the Managing Partner of Garcia Habacon and Han. He primarily handles corporate and commercial matters, commercial arbitration, medical law, and labor and employment matters.

He represents the firm’s clients in commercial matters before various government agencies and ad hoc or institutional arbitration proceedings. He has rendered legal advice and transactional assistance to clients. He advises the firm’s corporate clients on, and help them manage, compliance and good governance. He serves as corporate secretary or assistant corporate secretary in several corporations, assisting the client in managing director and stockholder meetings, share issuances and transfers, record keeping, and complying with reporting requirements imposed by respective government agencies. He also assists clients in their application of trademarks, trade names, industrial designs, utility models, and patents with the Intellectual Property Office.

He also handles employment and labor matters where he provides advice to employers on Philippine labor laws and assists companies in their day-to-day employment-related issues and concerns.

He comes from a family of doctors hence his interest in the practice of medical law. He has recently obtained a verified certificate in Bioethics: The Law, Medicine, and Ethics of Reproductive Technology and Genetics from the Harvard University. He is a member of the World Association for Medical Law.

He is currently a lecturer at the University of Asia and the Pacific teaching Conflicts of Law. He is also the current Chancellor of the Rizal Philippine Annual Conference East of the United Methodist Church. He has recently obtained Professional Certificates in Organization Legal Structure and Corporate Law as well as in Business Ethics and Responsibility from the Metropolitan School of Business and Management UK. He was also a contributor to the 2014 Doing Business Handbook published by the World Bank Group.

Before founding the Firm, he worked in Siguion Reyna Montecillo & Ongsiako from 2016 to 2017. He was also an Associate in Sycip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan from 2014 to 2016. He started his legal career as an Associate in the Nisce Mamuric Guinto Rivera and Alcantara (NMGRA) Law Office. He was exposed to various practice areas such as: litigation, arbitration, labor and employment matters, commercial transactions, corporate-housekeeping, and taxation.

He was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2014. He obtained his Juris Doctor Degree from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law in 2013 with Second Honors. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration Major in Legal Management from the Far Eastern University (FERN) in 2007.
