Student Chapter of the Year Award

  • The Student Chapter of the Year Award is presented in recognition of a chapter’s outstanding contributions to the World Law Alliance, and the profession. The purpose of the award is to increase student involvement in WLA through student chapters, and to recognize future leaders in the profession.

  • Award and Frequency

    An annual award of $1,000.
    This award is given out on an annual basis.


    All WLA Student Chapters in good standing are eligible to receive the WLA Student Chapter of the Year Award. There is no limit on the number of times a student chapter may win the award. Any WLA Student Chapter advisor, Student Chapter officer or member, or WLA member may nominate a Student Chapter for the award. Self-nominations are encouraged
    Application Instructions

    Please print or download a copy of the Nomination Form to nominate an WLA Student Chapter for the Student Chapter of the Year Award. The completed forms must be received or postmarked by March 1, 2014. If you are mailing your materials on or after February 19, please send them First Class or Priority, so that the Committee can assure full consideration to all nominees.

    Please email the completed form and supporting documentation, in either Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format to the awards committee chair. Deadline for submitting completed nomination forms is March 1, 2014. All nominations will be acknowledge upon receipt.

    Selection Criteria

    The seven categories of Student Chapter of the Year Award criteria include:

    * Leadership
    * Communications
    * Program
    * Financial
    * Awards/Honors


    All nominations will be acknowledged. The winner and runner-up will be notified by email and letter no later than March 31, 2014, so that the winners may attend the 2014 WLA Annual Conference where the Award will be presented.
